I have been using H&R Block since 2001 to file all my tax returns. I have used the offices for face to face assistance, and the last several years I have enjoyed the online option as well. This year I found myself wanting a little extra assistance and decided to revisit the office option. Mr. Mann at the 43rd street office made a 6 pm appointment with me to go over my return. He was very polite during the hour process we went over my paperwork and options etc. However, at the end of the preparations, the amount he quoted me on my return, combined with the fee he was charging, didn't quite sit right with me. He was so professional, that I was almost inclined to accept the offer, but my gut feeling told me to be patient and compare other services and options, such as their competitors or other online programs that are cheaper to use or even free etc. I asked Mr. Mann if it would be possible to save where we were on the return so I can take my time to think about my satisfaction with his work. Mr. Mann got visibly bothered by my request, and immediately cut me off. He stated " If you want to play games you can go somewhere else, but we don't play that game here." I was baffled and confused by his quick change in demeanor, and even asked him to clarify his remark and repeat it. "You heard what I said, you can take your papers and go if you like, I could have spent this time helping someone else." Now let me be clear, I totally understand the idea of someone being frustrated with spending time helping a customer and not closing the deal, etc. But to be so unprofessional, and rude to where my wife who is sitting with me has to feel so uncomfortable, and the other customers and employees can hear him, is unacceptable. I was sure to clarify to Mr. Mann that if he was bothered by my wanting to think over my options and seek a second opinion, I apologize, but my tax return and money is by no means a game to me or my wife, and shouldn't be defined as such by him either. I felt embarrassed and very upset by his words and attitude, and even gave him a chance to correct himself, but he insisted on being rude and shook his head over and over as he handed all my paper work back over to me and asked me to leave. I won't be returning, and I will strongly make the same suggestion to anyone who ever asks me my opinion in the future. Never again.
